Christine Nagel's rise to becoming one of the most influential perfumers of our time was anything but conventional. Born in Geneva in 1959, she initially studied medicine before discovering her passion for organic chemistry. She began her career at Firmenich, working in research and chromatography, where she analyzed fragrances on a molecular level and developed an exceptional ability to identify ingredients purely by scent.

Despite early doubts about her unconventional background, she remained determined. In Italy, she founded her own company and quickly captured a significant share of the market. Collaborations with renowned fashion houses such as Fendi and Versace demonstrated her unique ability to combine scientific precision with creative intuition.

Her philosophy of fragrance creation stands apart from traditional approaches. Nagel views perfumes as structured, almost tangible compositions rather than linear scent progressions. She achieved international recognition with Narciso Rodriguez for Her (2003), created in collaboration with Francis Kurkdjian, which received multiple awards. With Archives 69 for Etat Libre d'Orange, she showcased her experimental spirit. The fragrance blends unusual elements such as camphor, fruity notes, and spices, deliberately challenging traditional fragrance structures.
