Michèle Saramito embodies the finest traditions of French perfumery. Born in Cannes into a family of perfumers whose roots in Grasse date back to before the French Revolution, her path into the fragrance world was almost inevitable. This deep heritage laid the foundation for an exceptional career spanning nearly five decades at Robertet, where she began in 1976 as a perfumer’s assistant and rose to become one of the company’s most respected Senior Perfumers.

Trained at Robertet’s internal perfumery school, Saramito developed her craft through hands-on experience with natural raw materials. Beyond her technical expertise, her artistic background as a painter and illustrator plays a key role in her creative process. She approaches each fragrance like a canvas, blending notes to create expressive and evocative compositions.

Her breakthrough came in 1986 with Ptisenbon for Tartine et Chocolat, a pioneering fragrance that helped establish the children’s perfume category while highlighting her talent for creating fresh, elegant, and accessible scents. Her childhood memories from southern France and the West Indies continue to inspire her work, particularly her affinity for luminous freshness and warm vanilla notes.

Saramito’s creative philosophy revolves around emotion and storytelling. She believes that a great fragrance should evoke feelings and create lasting memories, always beginning her process by asking what story the scent should tell.

Her signature style balances freshness and depth: bright citrus notes specially bergamot blend with refined florals like jasmine, supported by sensual accords of patchouli and warm vanilla. This harmony gives her creations both lightness and richness.

Her versatility is reflected in collaborations with prestigious houses such as Amouage, Parfums de Marly, and Jovoy Paris. One of her standout creations, Ambre Premier for Jovoy, showcases her mastery of oriental compositions. It opens with candied orange and spices, evolving into a rich amber heart supported by rose, vanilla, and patchouli—demonstrating her ability to balance sweetness with complexity.

Beyond her own creations, Saramito has had a lasting influence through mentorship. She guided perfumers such as Mathieu Nardin and Fabrice Pellegrin and recognized emerging talents like Quentin Bisch early in their careers.
