Lorenzo Pazzaglia’s journey into perfumery began in an unexpected place—the kitchen of his father’s restaurant in Italy. Surrounded by the rich aromas of herbs, spices, and culinary ingredients, he developed an exceptional sensitivity to scent at an early age. This exposure to complex flavor profiles and aromatic combinations laid the foundation for his distinctive approach to fragrance creation.

Following family tradition, Pazzaglia initially pursued a career as a chef and eventually took over the family restaurant Il Poggio in Cagli. However, his curiosity led him beyond the culinary world into the realm of perfumery. His signature dish, Spaghetti alla Carbonara, became so iconic that he later translated it into a fragrance—Carbonara—a bold, spicy gourmand composition featuring notes of pepper, coconut, and amber.

What sets Pazzaglia apart in niche perfumery is his commitment to highly concentrated Extrait de Parfums, often containing 32–40% fragrance oils. This approach stems from his frustration with fleeting scents, leading him to create powerful compositions with exceptional longevity and projection. His philosophy centers on crafting “olfactory experiences that tell stories and evoke deep emotions,” treating each fragrance as an extension of his culinary artistry.

Pazzaglia’s portfolio reflects his fearless experimentation and mastery of impactful compositions. His Sea Collection, including standouts like Black Sea and Dream Sea, showcases his ability to capture the essence of marine environments while maintaining the rich complexity that defines his work. Black Sea, in particular, embodies his “Italian chaotic style”—a dark, stormy marine fragrance blending salt, ozone, and algae with unexpected floral nuances.

His Self Portrait Collection reveals a more personal dimension of his artistry. Pax, described as his “olfactory self-portrait,” weaves together passion fruit and black grape with spicy cardamom and warm amber, creating a layered and expressive composition. Esco Pazzo—meaning “I go crazy”—offers a modern reinterpretation of classic fougère structures, enriched with oriental and amber facets.

Pazzaglia’s expertise in gourmand fragrances is evident in creations like Summer Hammer, a tropical Piña Colada-inspired scent, and his Vanilla Collection, particularly Van Py Rhum, which masterfully blends multiple types of vanilla with aged rum and Indonesian patchouli.
