Julie Pluchet’s journey to becoming a senior perfumer began in the French countryside, where her deep connection to nature first shaped her passion for scent. This early influence continues to inspire her work, forming the foundation of her refined and harmonious compositions.

A defining moment in her youth came from the film Fanfan, in which Sophie Marceau portrays a perfumer in training—sparking Pluchet’s realization that perfumery could be a real and attainable career.

After earning her Master’s degree in Chemistry in 2003, she began her career at MANE in Grasse, the heart of French perfumery. Her desire to refine her craft led her to the Grasse Institute of Perfumery, where she trained under respected perfumers such as Max Gavarry and Isabelle Burdel.

A pivotal stage in her development came through her mentorship with Raymond Carlavan at Fragrance Resources, who encouraged her to fully embrace her creative imagination.

In 2014, Pluchet joined CPL Aromas as a Senior Perfumer, where she works across fine fragrance, personal care, and home scent categories, combining creative development with close client collaboration.

More recently, she has expanded her perspective through time spent in the Middle East, particularly Dubai, immersing herself in oriental perfumery traditions and enriching her creative palette.

Her rural upbringing naturally draws her toward woody and earthy notes, with cedarwood being a signature ingredient for its soft, powdery, and authentic character. She frequently incorporates spices such as cardamom, saffron, and pink pepper, often paired with woods to create balanced yet distinctive compositions.

A standout creation is 150: Timeless, a complex citrus-aromatic fragrance composed of over 180 ingredients, blending fresh lime and bitter orange with classic lavender and warm spices.

With Jump Up and Kiss Me Ecstatic, she demonstrates her mastery of white florals, centering on sensual tuberose enhanced by ylang-ylang and jasmine.

Meanwhile, Jump Up and Kiss Me Hedonistic highlights her ability to work with gourmand and fruity accords, featuring a prominent black cherry note balanced by leather and amber for added depth.

Her work for prestigious houses such as Clive Christian, Penhaligon’s, and Molton Brown has earned widespread recognition and awards.

Her commitment to sustainability and innovation is reflected in her use of advanced technologies such as headspace, allowing her to capture and recreate natural scent profiles with precision.
