Giuseppe Imprezzabile’s path to becoming one of Italy’s most recognized artisanal perfumers began far from traditional perfume centers such as Grasse. Born in 1977 in Mazara del Vallo, Sicily, he grew up in an environment deeply shaped by the maritime culture of his ancestors, who were fishermen and seafarers. His scientific background in chemistry, herbal studies, ethnobotany, and anthropology formed the foundation of his deep understanding of natural raw materials, while his work as a herbalist in Northern Italy connected him closely to the botanical world.
A defining turning point came during a transformative journey to Istanbul at the end of 2009 and the beginning of 2010, which opened an unexpected path into perfumery. He prefers to describe himself as an “Aromatario,” an old term for someone with extensive knowledge of herbs, emphasizing his strong connection to nature and traditional practices. In 2010, he founded Meo Fusciuni, choosing a name rooted in his family heritage: “Meo” as a reference to his father Bartolomeo, and “Fusciuni,” his grandfather’s nickname, meaning “to flow” in Sicilian.
Together with artistic director Federica Castellani, Imprezzabile developed a brand that understands fragrance as an expression of memory and emotion. His philosophy is based on viewing perfume as both ritual and narrative, with each creation beginning not in the laboratory, but with a poem, a journey, or an emotional experience. This approach has been recognized within the industry, including praise from a co-director of Esxence, who described him as one of the most important artists in modern Italian perfumery.
