Emilie Bevierre-Coppermann’s path to becoming a master perfumer began with a defining encounter at the age of 13. Meeting a perfumer from Rochas sparked her passion for fragrance and set the foundation for her future career. She initially studied organic chemistry before continuing her education at the renowned ISIPCA in Versailles, where she specialized in the art of perfumery.
In 1993, she began her career at Florasynth, which was later acquired by Symrise, and remained with the company throughout her entire professional journey. In 2016, she was awarded the title of Master Perfumer. Over the course of her career, she has created more than 160 fragrances and collaborated with renowned brands such as Balmain, Burberry, Carolina Herrera, Givenchy, Paco Rabanne, and Van Cleef & Arpels.
Her work is defined by a counterintuitive approach to fragrance creation. She deliberately combines unexpected elements, such as incorporating woody notes into feminine fragrances or blending warm spices into fresh compositions. Her goal is to create something both disruptive and harmonious at the same time. Despite these contrasts, her creations always retain a sense of lightness and playfulness.
Her childhood, shaped by free-spirited “hippie parents” and a style-conscious grandmother devoted to Chanel, has strongly influenced her perspective. She draws inspiration from a wide range of sources, including travel, literature, art, and human encounters. Her journeys to India, Colombia, and Bali have provided her with a rich reservoir of olfactory memories that continue to influence her work. She describes herself as a “sponge,” absorbing impressions and transforming them into creative ideas.
