Caroline Dumur’s journey into perfumery began in the countryside of northern France, where she spent her childhood on her grandparents’ farm. Surrounded by the natural scents of flowers, hay, and soil, she developed an early sensitivity to raw materials and their emotional impact.

Her intellectual curiosity was nurtured by her parents, both editors, who introduced her to the stories of legendary perfumers. This blend of sensory experience and academic interest led her to study chemistry with a focus on fragrance, followed by a Master’s degree at ISIPCA, one of the world’s most prestigious perfumery schools.

At IFF, Dumur refined her craft under the mentorship of acclaimed perfumer Anne Flipo. This collaboration helped her balance technical precision with her naturally daring creativity. Today, she works across a wide spectrum of brands, from major luxury houses like Chloé and Paco Rabanne to experimental labels such as Comme des Garçons.

Dumur is known for her fearless approach to scent creation. She explores bold, sometimes unconventional combinations—often dark, rich, and unexpected—while maintaining a strong focus on texture and emotional depth. For her, fragrance is an instinctive interplay of materials, always carrying the personal signature of its creator.

Whether crafting the sensual Contre Ta Peau, the fresh Oréncie for Chambre52, the bold Pure XS for Paco Rabanne, or the elegant Nomade Naturelle for Chloé, she consistently demonstrates a unique and recognizable style.

Dumur’s creative process begins with the raw materials themselves. She is particularly drawn to warm, freshly distilled ingredients and enjoys pushing their limits to create something unexpected. Her fragrances are layered and expressive, designed to evoke emotions rather than simply please the senses.

Contre Ta Peau highlights her ability to create intimate, skin-like scents. It opens with luminous neroli, unfolds into a rich orange blossom heart, and settles into a soft, creamy vanilla base—resulting in a composition that feels both sensual and personal.
