Asghar Adam Ali is widely regarded as one of the leading figures in Arabian perfumery, with a legacy rooted in tradition and innovation. Born in 1953 in Aden, Yemen, he grew up in a family deeply connected to fragrance creation. His father was a skilled perfumer, while his mother crafted her own perfumes and bakhoor, often using him as a tester. These early experiences shaped his exceptional olfactory sensitivity and laid the foundation for his future career.
At just 16 years old, in 1969, Ali founded Nabeel Perfumes as a small shop in Aden. Due to political instability, he later relocated to the United Arab Emirates, where he relaunched the brand in 1990. This move marked a turning point, transforming Nabeel from a modest business into a global fragrance powerhouse. Today, the company operates a vast, state-of-the-art facility spanning over 220,000 square feet, reflecting decades of growth and innovation.
Ali’s philosophy—“Be Daring, Be First, Be Different”—guides his creative direction. He skillfully blends traditional Arabian ingredients such as oud, rose, saffron, and amber with contemporary influences, creating fragrances that embody individuality and cultural richness. His luxury brand The Spirit of Dubai, launched in 2015, captures the dynamic essence of the city and its heritage.
