Amélie Bourgeois has established herself as one of the most influential young perfumers in today’s niche fragrance scene. Born in 1981, she draws deeply from her childhood in the Landes region of southwestern France, where the scents of pine forests, heather, and sunlit wheat fields shaped her emotional connection to fragrance.

Her professional journey began in 2002, when she met Monique Schlienger, founder of the prestigious Cinquième Sens school in Paris. Under Schlienger’s guidance, Bourgeois spent three years mastering the art of perfumery, learning about raw materials, composition, and olfactory structure. This formative period led to seven years working as both perfumer and instructor at Cinquième Sens, before she co-founded the independent fragrance studio FLAIR in 2012, alongside Martine Denisot and later Anne-Sophie Behaghel.

For Bourgeois, perfume goes far beyond technical formulation—it represents emotion, identity, and personal memory. Her creative philosophy is rooted in storytelling and authenticity, drawing inspiration from nature, travel, art, and literature. She frequently works with materials such as immortelle, ambroxan, iris, and vetiver, often exploring bold combinations while maintaining balance and wearability. Imperial Peacock reflects her expertise in gourmand compositions, blending rhubarb, almond, and spiced vanilla into a rich and refined accord. Ode to Rose showcases her mastery of florals, combining the elegance of rose with woody nuances for a modern interpretation.

Her work for Les Eaux Primordiales further demonstrates her range: Ambre evokes the warmth of winter evenings with its comforting amber-gourmand profile, while Cèdre transports the wearer to the Atlas Mountains with its dry, spicy-woody character.
