Born in 1987 in the French Alpine region of Haute-Savoie, Jérôme di Marino brings a distinctive Mediterranean perspective to contemporary perfumery. His childhood was shaped by vivid olfactory memories—from warm wooden interiors and cedar hedges to the pizzelle cookies of his Italian grandmother, delicately infused with lemon and anise. These early impressions laid the foundation for his creative approach, balancing comfort with unexpected twists.

His path into perfumery began unexpectedly during his chemistry studies at the Université Côte d’Azur. Discovering ISIPCA, the prestigious perfumery school founded by the Guerlain family, redirected his career from laboratory synthesis to artistic fragrance creation.

His training at Givaudan under Nathalie Cetto provided a strong technical foundation, but it was his close mentorship with master perfumer Francis Kurkdjian at Takasago that truly shaped his artistic identity.

Under Kurkdjian’s demanding guidance, di Marino studied the pillars of perfumery—from Chanel N°5 to modern bestsellers—developing not only technical expertise but also a deep understanding of aesthetics and brand storytelling. This rigorous formation quickly paid off: his first major creation, Daniel Hechter Black Eau de Parfum, received a French FiFi Award, establishing him as a rising talent in the industry.

Di Marino’s creative philosophy focuses on building bold, impactful accords—often through concise formulas or the strategic overdosing of key ingredients. His preferred materials include tonka bean, labdanum, vanilla, and warm spices, which frequently define his olfactory signature.

With Story of Your Life for Etat Libre d’Orange, he showcases his mastery of gourmand compositions, featuring a distinctive brioche accord layered over a refined vanilla-rum base.

His collaborations with Une Nuit Nomade highlight his versatility: Ambre Khandjar presents a powerful oriental amber with modern depth, while Estrella de la Mañana pushes boundaries with its smoky vanilla and cocoa composition. The Jardins de Misfah collection reveals his skill in crafting intricate rose accords balanced with spices and subtle sweetness.

Travel and cultural exploration are key sources of inspiration for di Marino, with each journey enriching his olfactory palette.
