Daniel Josier’s journey to becoming one of Spain’s most respected perfumers began with sensory memories from childhood—sea air in Castro Urdiales and his mother’s cherished fragrance, First by Van Cleef & Arpels. Born in Madrid, he adopted his professional name as a deliberate distinction between his personal identity and his artistic work.
His formal training at ISIPCA in Versailles provided a strong technical foundation, but his artistic vision was shaped during six formative years under Jean-Claude Ellena at Haarman & Reimer. There, he discovered that perfumery goes far beyond chemistry—it is an art form driven by emotion and imagination.
Josier’s career spans both the commercial and niche fragrance worlds. He has created perfumes for global companies such as L’Oréal, Puig, and Unilever, while simultaneously developing his own creative identity. In 2009, he founded L’Atelier del Perfume, followed by his own brand in 2014. This dual path allows him to combine commercial expertise with artistic independence.
His philosophy views perfume not as a fixed signature, but as an expression of mood and personality in a given moment. For Josier, fragrance is an “olfactory experience” that tells stories inspired by travel, memories, and emotions. Sandalwood is a recurring element in his work, adding texture, warmth, and a recognizable signature.
