Andreas Wilhelm’s journey into perfumery began in 1993 as a laboratory technician at Givaudan, where his exposure to raw materials and production processes sparked a deep fascination with scent. Driven by this passion, he pursued formal training as a perfumer at Luzi AG in 1999. After gaining further experience at Emil Flachsmann, he took a bold step in 2008 by founding his own olfactory studio, Wilhelm Perfume, in Zurich.

Wilhelm’s creative philosophy revolves around transparency and narrative-driven fragrance creation. This is most evident in his provocative brand Perfume.Sucks, where fragrance formulas are printed directly on the bottles—challenging the traditional secrecy of the industry. His work ranges from refined niche fragrances to experimental artistic projects, including scent installations and his distinctive “Duftkino” (scent cinema) concept.

One of his defining skills lies in his ability to deconstruct and refine complex raw materials such as patchouli, creating clear and precise interpretations while preserving their essence. His creative collaborations extend beyond perfumery into contemporary art, luxury automotive scent design for brands like Genesis, and even the recreation of the scent of freshly printed Swiss franc banknotes through advanced headspace analysis.

Wilhelm’s portfolio reflects remarkable diversity and creative daring. Fragrances like TestoX showcase bold, masculine compositions with patchouli and spices, while Anelo for Pernoire offers a vibrant, tropical character. His Conspiracy Line for Perfume.Sucks highlights his experimental approach, with creations such as Fuel0987, blending petroleum accords with oud, and Love6567, inspired by nostalgic memories of caramel popcorn in cinemas.

For Pernoire, Wilhelm has developed sophisticated scents such as Amoral, a rich oriental composition recognized by the Art & Olfaction Awards, and Mansa, inspired by the legendary emperor of Mali. His work consistently demonstrates an ability to transform abstract ideas into immersive olfactory experiences, as seen in creations like Kama, which explores desire through a fusion of blackberry and leather.

His achievements include multiple Art & Olfaction Award nominations and wins, as well as a FiFi Award for Gisada Donna. His collaboration with Microcaps on Xerjoff’s first ethanol-free fragrance highlights his engagement with innovative fragrance technologies. Currently working as a fine fragrance perfumer for Eurofragance in Dubai while continuing his independent work in Zurich, Wilhelm remains a pioneering force, redefining perfumery through his fusion of technical mastery, artistic exploration, and fearless experimentation.
